SIMULATION MODELING FOR SURGERY ROOM SCHEDULING PROBLEM
The Operating Room Scheduling Problem (ORSP) is a complex NP-hard optimization challenge that significantly impacts the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare systems. This problem involves allocating surgical cases to available operating rooms while adhering to multiple constraints, such as the availability of surgeons, nurses, and facilities, as well as meeting diverse operational objectives. In this study, we simulate the feasibility of surgical schedules under varying resource availability and management scenarios. Using real-world data from a hospital in Algeria, we evaluate the performance of the schedule through a series of scenario-based experiments. The findings provide valuable insights into managing limited resources and mitigating the challenges posed by resource unavailability, offering practical implications for improving operating room scheduling and overall healthcare delivery.
