Developing a product-ready optical sensing platform for non-invasive measurement of cerebral blood flow dynamics
Despite the extraordinary potential of non-invasive optical neuromonitoring, many approaches, and particularly those that seek to measure cerebral blood flow, have failed to achieve commercial clinical translation. While there are many reasons for this, perhaps the most fundamental is the challenge of achieving sufficient brain selectivity. At CoMind, we are developing an interferometric, photon-time-of-flight-resolved optical sensing technology that has the potential to overcome the challenge of brain selectivity and provide a robust and easy-to-apply platform that enables effective, non-invasive optical neuromonitoring of cerebral blood flow and other critical neurophysiological parameters. I will discuss what we at CoMind aim to achieve, the progress made to date, and the challenges that remain. I will also outline how we hope to engage with the biomedical optics community in 2025 and beyond.
