Catch Me If You Can: Mycoplasma pneumoniae
Abstract Mycoplasma pneumoniae is a well-known cause of acute respiratory infections, predominantly affecting children and young adults. This case report presents a middle-aged female with respiratory symptoms, where M. pneumoniae was diagnosed as a causative agent based on a multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) panel for respiratory infections on a nasopharyngeal swab and highlights the use of this test in diagnosing atypical organisms.
