Convivencia escolar y violencia en escuelas de nivel básico en Yucatán
The aim of this study was to know the different perceptions and conceptions that students and teachers have regarding school coexistence within their educational centers. To this effect, it was necessary to conduct a descriptive study using a qualitative approach in six pedagogical centers, focusing on the fifth and sixth grade of primary education in Merida, Yucatan. The participants were 126 students and 16 teachers found in the analyzed grades. By using a descriptive design with a qualitative approach, the required data was collected by means of in-depth interviews and the implementation of focus groups. Among the results found in the study, the existence of strong bonds of friendship and fellowship, community services, the development of support activities and decisions the school community engages in stand out. Additionally, there were instances in which school coexistence was not adequate due to factors that range from the disinterest some teachers to some challenging attitudes parents show towards the teachers themselves. The conclusions drawn from this study are relevant so that the pertinent programs to strengthen school coexistence are designed and implemented, as well as to make disciplinary administration inside the school and classrooms more efficient.
