Case Study: Kaveya – An Indian College Student Struggling with Test Anxiety
Test anxiety is a specific type of performance anxiety experienced by individuals during exam preparation or test-taking. It is characterized by extreme stress, fear, and worry, which can severely impact academic performance and emotional well-being. This paper explores the symptoms, causes, and effects of test anxiety, along with preventive measures and intervention strategies. A case study of a 19-year-old Indian college student, Kaveya (a fictional name), is presented to illustrate the application of these strategies. The findings highlight the effectiveness of cognitive - behavioral therapy, relaxation techniques, and supportive communication in managing test anxiety. General recommendations for individuals experiencing test anxiety are also provided.
