Influence of Family Environment on Student Attitudes towards Education

The current study was designed to investigate associated family environment factors and educational attitudes in 87 Indian students aged 15 to 22 years. The students participating in this study completed the Family Environment Scale (FES) and the Attitude Scale Toward Education (ASTE) to assess their family environment and attitudes toward education, respectively. The approach revealed a weak positive association between the family environment and attitudes toward education (Spearman's rho = 0.158), with a p-value of 0.144 deemed non-significant. On the Family Environment scale, the sample's average score was 168.5, falling within the above-average congenial and on the Attitude scale toward education, the sample's average score was 17.5, falling within the above-average favourable range based on the scale's scoring norms. The study's findings highlight the complex relationship between family environment and students' attitudes toward education and suggest that, in order to improve generalization, future research should focus on broader demographic and cultural factors
