On Writing "The Sandwich Artist"
Abstract: "The Sandwich Artist" is an allegorical exploration of an author's struggle with disillusionment in his writing career. He had successes in publishing pieces in literary magazines, but he felt it was not making the impact he wanted in the literary world. Although he worked as a software content writer, he felt lost in his career. The narrative unfolds at a Subway, where two characters—Garrett, a cynic, and the narrator, an idealist—embody the conflicting forces within his creative life. Their dialogue shows the writer's internal struggles during this time, but shows how meaningful connection, even the little ones, can bring back love and passion for creating art.
