Assessment of macro and micro mineral profiles in blood, milk, and hair of cattle and buffaloes: Implications for nutritional status and productivity

The present study was conducted to know the status of macro and micro minerals in blood, milk and hair of cattle and buffalo in Jhajjar district of Haryana. The samples of blood, milk and hair were collected, processed and analyzed for proximate nutrients, calcium (Ca), phophorus (P), zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn) contents following standard procedures. It was observed that 11.11% and 7.78% of buffaloes were deficient for Ca and P while 12.22% and 16.67% of cattle were deficient for Ca and P. 100% cattle and buffaloes were deficient in Zn as compared to their daily requirement while Fe was in surplus. 81.11% cattle and 88.88% buffaloes were deficient in Cu and 46.67% cattle and 46.67% buffaloes were underfed with respect to Mn.
