Enhancing Catalytic Activity of Gallium Oxide Through Transition Metal Incorporation for Ethane Oxidative Dehydrogenation in the Presence of Carbon Dioxide
Abstract The conversion of ethane to ethylene is an important process for chemical production and sustainable development. Using CO 2 as a soft oxidant for this reaction turns pollutants into useful chemicals. Herein, W was incorporated into the structure of Ga 2 O 3 to modify the surface acidity of the catalyst to improve the catalytic activity of the reaction further. Characterization demonstrated that W was incorporated in the bulk of the catalyst with a rich distribution on the external surface, leading to a change in the surface properties of the catalyst. W‐incorporated Ga 2 O 3 exhibited higher catalytic activity than pure Ga 2 O 3 . The activity of the catalyst was highly related to the surface weak and medium acid sites, which assisted the adsorption and activation of CO 2 .
