Comparison of standards for the calibration of stopwatches

Main text This comparison compared the standards used for the calibration of stopwatches from three national metrology institutes. The comparison was piloted by the National Metrology Institute of Malaysia, and supported by the National Measurement Institute, Australia. The National Measurement Standards - National Standardization Agency of Indonesia (SNSU-BSN) participated in the comparison in preparation of coordinating an international proficiency test for the APMP-APAC Joint Proficiency Testing Working Group. Two stopwatches with a resolution of 1 millisecond were used as the comparison artefacts. Time intervals of nominally 10 seconds, 3600 seconds (1 hour), and 10 800 seconds (3 hours) were measured. The comparison reference value at each time interval was calculated from measurements performed by the pilot laboratory. There was very good agreement between all the participants. The comparison was arranged by the APMP Technical Committee on Time and Frequency Working Group on Test and Calibration. To reach the main text of this paper, click on Final Report .
