The criteria assessment of TOD projects: A case study of a bicycle network in the metro station area of Ho Chi Minh City
The inconsistency in transport planning and land use has increased the number of private vehicles by narrowing the roads, affecting the sustainable development of the transportation system. Transport Oriented Development (TOD) is a planning strategy that integrates transport infrastructure with urban development to foster urban and transport sustainability. Many TOD projects were implemented, and the performance of the projects could be quite diverse depending on how to select indicators for evaluating them. Therefore, this study describes quantitative assessment indicators to comprehensively evaluate TOD projects area. As a case study, this study uses the indicators to evaluate the benefits of a proposed bicycle network in the surrounding area of a Metro station in Ho Chi Minh City. The results show that this proposal increases the number of people who choose to use sustainable mode of transport, help to save costs, travel time, and emissions and reduces the average traffic speed in the area.
