A MBSE-based fault modeling approach for satellite

Abstract With the rapid development of space-based infrastructure and the increasing complexity of satellites, fault analysis of satellites with human-in-the-loop has become extremely challenging. This research proposes a Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approach to build a satellite fault model, which identifies component and function failure modes at the system, subsystem, and component levels, and associates them with corresponding indicators. This approach facilitates satellite fault analysis. A case study using a remote sensing satellite model is presented, demonstrating that the proposed method can effectively represent satellite faults in the model, linking fault information with design information.
