A MBSE-based architect design approach for satellite constellations
Abstract As the number of satellites in constellations increases, the complexity of these systems grows, posing significant challenges to their design, management, and control. To address these challenges, this study proposes a Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approach. By utilizing MBSE methods and tools, a satellite constellation architecture and modeling framework is developed. Digital techniques are employed to streamline the design process. A case study of an Internet satellite constellation is conducted to demonstrate the approach. The results show that, compared to traditional document-based methods, the MBSE approach not only reduces reliance on documents and natural language but also enhances traceability and consistency throughout the design process.
