Enhancement of Electric Vehicle Battery Charging Systems Through the Integration of Interleaved Single-Ended Primary Inductor Converters (SEPIC) and Advanced Model Predictive Control (MPC)

To improve the charging systems of electric vehicles (EVs), power electronics converters must be optimised. According to this theory, vehicle charging is improved by the interleaved single-edged primary inductive converter (SEPIC). The capacity of the interleaved SEPIC converter to minimize current ripple, enhance thermal management, and supply continuous input current informs the selection. Model Predictive Control (MPC) logic, which forecasts the system's future behaviour and modifies control actions in real-time, is used to attain optimal performance. This kind of combo, which combines interleaved SEPIC with MPC, guarantees improved battery life, reduced power losses, and better power management. Overall vehicle performance and energy efficiency gains are confirmed by the calculations and experimental findings, indicating that this strategy can be considered promising for next-generation EV propulsion systems thus promoting sustainable transportation technologies.
