Maximizing the transmission capacity in multimode SDM systems

We summarize our recent research on optimizing multimode fibers to support over 1000 spatial modes, with an emphasis on reducing differential mode delay and enhancing throughput. Additionally, we identify a practical limit to mode scaling caused by Rayleigh scattering, macro-bend loss, and coating loss.

Abstract

We summarize our recent research on optimizing multimode fibers to support over 1000 spatial modes, with an emphasis on reducing differential mode delay and enhancing throughput. Additionally, we identify a practical limit to mode scaling caused by Rayleigh scattering, macro-bend loss, and coating loss.
