Optical switching for AI computing systems

We explore the applications of optical switching in AI clusters. We present a Layer-1 Software-Defined Network (SDN) that extends network programmability to the physical layer, and we investigate its applications in enhancing failure resilience and enabling topology reconfiguration for deep learning workloads.

Abstract

We explore the applications of optical switching in AI clusters. We present a Layer-1 Software-Defined Network (SDN) that extends network programmability to the physical layer, and we investigate its applications in enhancing failure resilience and enabling topology reconfiguration for deep learning workloads.
