Anti-prion Antibody Ameliorates Metabolic Dysfunction-associated Steatohepatitis in Mice
Macrophages play a role in inflammatory diseases by polarizing mainly into proinflammatory M1 and anti-inflammatory M2 subclasses.1 We previously showed that stimulation of the cellular prion protein, PrPC, on macrophages with 3 different anti-PrP monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), including 38-2 mAb, induced M2 macrophages through activating Src family kinases (SFKs).2 PrPC is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored membrane glycoprotein and expressed most abundantly in brains, particularly by neurons, and to much lesser extents in non-neuronal tissues or cells including livers and macrophages.
