Coaxial line scanning Brillouin microscopy
Line scanning Brillouin microscopy (LSBM) has been shown to be 50-100 times faster than confocal Brillouin microscopy. However, LSBM suffers from image distortion in optically heterogeneous materials due to its biaxial optical design. To address this, we developed coaxial line scanning Brillouin microscopy (cLSBM), where the illumination and detection axes share the same optical path, making it less sensitive to optical heterogeneity. In addition, the inverted configuration of cLSBM allows for the measurement of samples in a standard petri dish, facilitating long-term mechanical imaging of important biological events.
