Multipass-cell-based post compression to 250W, 2.5mJ, <8fs at 1030nm
We present a sub-8fs laser system providing a world-record 250W of average power with <8fs pulses. The Yb-doped fiber laser system provides 300 fs pulses with up to 8mJ pulse energy. A fraction of it is nonlinearly post-compressed down to a few optical cycles in two subsequent multipass cells (MPC). A pulse duration of 8 fs (sub-3-cycle) at a pulse energy of 2.5 mJ in combination with 2500 W average power (100 kHz) is achieved. This corresponds to the shortest pulses and highest compressed average power for few-cycle MPCs. The system is characterized for a long-term operation as it is part of a user beamline.
