Modern applications in multiphoton microscopy
Multiphoton microscopy has become an essential tool for researchers aiming to image several hundred micrometers deep into living tissue. Advances in ultrafast lasers and microscope objectives have enabled the development of 2-photon, 3-photon, and other nonlinear microscopy techniques, furthering research in areas such as neuroplasticity, cellular physiology, and early cancer detection. Effective deep tissue imaging relies on wavelengths from the visible spectrum to near infrared for optimal resolution, with femtosecond laser pulses used to minimize out of focus fluorescence. Furthermore, the low noise nature of solid-state lasers provides high resolution for quantitative analysis. This presentation will highlight application examples showcasing the impact of these technological advancements.
