Experimental studies and model validation on power and frequency dependences of nonlinear products in a temperature-compensated SAW duplexer exhibiting anomalous power law

Abstract This paper studies the power and frequency dependences of nonlinear products in a temperature-compensated (TC) surface acoustic wave (SAW) duplexer exhibiting anomalous power law reported by Finteis and Ruile. It was shown experimentally that the anomalous power law appears in the third-order harmonics (H3) and intermodulation distortion (IMD3) when one of the driving frequencies is set in the transmission band. It was also shown that IMD3 in this situation can be characterized well by the mathematical model derived by the authors’ group. In contrast, when both the driving frequencies are set out, the transmission band, H3 and IMD3, followed the conventional power law. This fact implies that this anomalous power law originated from elastic nonlinearity.
