Fluorescence lifetime imaging of immune cell metabolism
Immune cells are highly dynamic, heterogeneous, and controlled by metabolic switches. Therefore, fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM) of the metabolic co-enzymes NAD(P)H and FAD can be used to monitor immune cell behavior at the single cell level. This talk will cover the principles of imaging immunometabolism with FLIM, including single cell heterogeneity and metabolic changes with function in primary human immune cells and animal models of immunity. These tools can be applied to clinical diagnostics, manufacturing cell therapies, and understanding in vivo immune response in disease.
