Coherence gated imaging through multimode fiber
The transmission matrix offers an effective strategy to manage mode scrambling in multimode fiber and enables computational reconstruction of confocal reflectance images from the distal end of the fiber without wavefront shaping. Here, we combine confocal with coherence gating using a pre-calibrated multispectral transmission matrix. Combined coherence and confocal gating significantly enhances axial resolution and optical sectioning as well as dynamic range. Coherence gating through multimode fiber defines new opportunities for ultra-thin, minimally invasive endoscopy, particularly suitable for exploring delicate anatomical areas.
