Efficient protocols for simultaneous optical wireless power transfer and communication
Optical wireless power transfer is a cutting-edge technology that can drive future applications like space solar farms and zero-energy connectivity. Advanced photovoltaic cells, such as GaAs and InGaAs Photonic Power Converters (PPCs), could be used to efficiently convert light into electricity and detect signals simultaneously. This study explores different PPC designs and validates their performance using simulations and experiments with an OFDM data communication scheme. The findings reveal how PPCs can effectively balance power harvesting and data transmission, leading to an optimized communication protocol. This technology shows great promise for future applications in wireless power and data transfer.
