Two-Layer Polyethylene Coating for Water-Wastewater Pipeline Applications

This article will review what a two-layer polyethylene (PE) coating consists of and its application and use as an external mainline coating for both ductile iron and carbon steel pipe. It will review laboratory data regarding ultraviolet (UV) aging and thermal and hydrolytic aging and mechanical properties. The article will also examine examples of field installations, as well as case histories, regarding long-term, in-ground performance of two-layer, PE plant-applied external corrosion coatings.
