Brillouin imaging: past, present, and future
This talk will present the evolution of Brillouin imaging from the beginning of the 21st century up to now, along with future challenges and possibilities. Fundamental properties of Brillouin imaging will be addressed, including spectral broadening, mechanical contrast and resolution. Various Brillouin microscopy designs will be shown, their capabilities and limitations will be discussed, and application examples will be illustrated. Combination of Brillouin microscopy with other imaging modalities will also be outlined.
