Large field of view and broadband metalens for optical beam steering
Metasurfaces can be used to realize lensing functionalities using ultra-thin devices. However, reaching simultaneously an achromatic and wide field of view behavior remains a challenge. In this work, we exploit the meta-atom dispersion to achieve such a goal. We use 700-nm-tall silicon pillars to realize a metalens based on a modified quadratic phase profile that ensure a broadening of its achromatic wavelength range. We experimentally achieve a relative focus shift is as low as 1.1% in a wavelength range from 1500 nm to 1600 nm along with a 86° field of view.
