Mira: event-based imaging in the SWIR band

The Mira camera from Quantum Imaging based on the SWIFT-EI detector from SCD brings the timing accuracy and bandwidth efficiency of event-based (neuromorphic) imaging to the short-wave infrared band. Event-based imaging mimics the behavior of the human eye in that the camera reacts only to changes in the scene rather than consuming power and generating data to report redundant information. The timing of these changes are reported with far greater accuracy than is possible with conventional high-speed imaging techniques. This paradigm allows unprecedented advances in camera size, weight, power, and bandwidth utilization, but has previously been limited to the visible domain. Output streams of event-based imaging systems are particularly suited for use with spiking neural networks. The Mira camera couples these advantages with a high-quality conventional SWIR imaging synchronized with the event detection channel.
