Recent progress in on-chip SLG FMCW LiDAR

Fully nonmechanical solid-state light detection and ranging (LiDAR) systems are being developed on Si photonics platform with optical phased array, focal plane array and slow-light grating (SLG). They are in the stage of demonstrating real-time frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) LiDAR action. This paper discusses their perspective, particularly focusing the recent progress in SLG device and challenges toward future improvements.
