OAM vortex phase masks for enhanced scatter rejection in transmissometry
This study presents a method for improving scattered light rejection in laser transmissometry using optical orbital angular momentum (OAM) beams. The experimental results show a 14% enhancement in the coherent-to-incoherent power ratio in highly scattering environments when compared to a pinhole spatial filter alone, providing a robust validation of theoretical models. The technique significantly boosts image contrast and adherence to Beer's Law over high attenuation lengths, offering promising applications in underwater imaging and atmospheric optics.
