A single case study of cognitive emotional behavioral therapy(REBT): Targeted at adults who are afraid of using public transportation

The purpose of this study is a single case study in which REBT Cognitive Emotiona l Behavioral Therapy was conducted on adults experiencing fear of using public transpo rtation. To this end, we conducted counseling using REBT cognitive emotional behavior therapy, which consisted of 20 sessions, and examined the client's change process and t reatment effects in each session. The research results are as follows. First, it was confi rmed that irrational beliefs related to fear of using public transportation changed into rat ional beliefs as the session progressed during the counseling process using REBT cognit ive emotional behavior therapy for adult clients experiencing phobia of public transportat ion. Second, it was confirmed that through REBT cognitive emotional behavior therapy, anxiety factors related to the client's traumatic event were removed, impulsive thoughts were reduced, and positive changes occurred in self-confidence and self-trust. However, as a single case study, there are limits to generalization and the focus is on subjects w ho experience phobias when using public transportation, so it is suggested that future st udies applying it to various subjects and psychological problems can be continued. This paper has clinical significance in that it shows in detail through a case the process of a client who experienced fear and anxiety of public transportation overcoming his problem s and recovering his daily life.
