Design and Analysis of 2-D Photonic Honeycomb Structure for Application of Pressure Sensor
The construction of a 2-D photonic crystal (PC) is prepared for a honeycomb-based pressure sensor. Air holes are carved in silicon-based semiconductor material with a hexagonal structure. The operation of the sensing mechanism relies upon the photonic bandgap (PBG), lattice spacing, and reflectance with an applied pressure range (0–5 GPa). The transmitted energy and reflected energy are also estimated with the help of an energy meter. The analytical method and fabrication steps are analyzed. Finally, the performance of sensor parameters [sensitivity, quality factor, figure of merit (FOM), detection limit (DL), resolution, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and dynamic range (DR)] of the 2-D photonic structure is also investigated and published articles from 2009 to 2024 are properly mentioned with the comparison table.
