Assessment of Relative Diversity (RDi) of Various Avian Species at Moradabad (UP), India

Birds are biological indicators of the state of the ecosystem. There are various families and orders of Aves whose species are richly found in India. Moradabad city is known for its brass-ware products globally. Assessment studies for its Avian biodiversity were done during the 2023-2024 period. Highest Relative Diversity (RDi) of family Coumbidae was recorded in the urban localities of Moradabad city followed by Accipitridae, Corvidae, Motacillidae and Muscipidaceae. it was found that RDi of Columbidae was highest (8.69) then followed by Accipitridae, Corvidae, Motacillidae and Muscipidaceae. The pigeons and dove which are members of Columbidae are found round the city nearabout in every location and sites. They are found in every season during the Annual Count studies.
