Die Stellungnahmen T. Tekins und A. Aydas zu etruskisch-türkischen Spekulationen
In this article, the author describes a dispute regarding the alleged relationship between the Etruscan languages and Turkish, which took place in the 1980s between the Turkologist Mehmet Talât Tekin (16 July 1927-28 November 2015) and the Turkish diplomat and ‘Etruscologist’ Adile Ayda (7 March 1912-5 November 1992). This exchange of blows has not yet been considered in the relevant literature on the history of speculation about an alleged Etruscan-Turkish relationship. The three journal articles on which the controversy between Tekin and Ayda was conducted are reproduced here translated from Turkish for the first time.
