Unveiling Autism Spectrum Disorder: A Case Study on Early Diagnosis and Intervention Strategies
This case study examines the developmental, emotional, and social challenges faced by Raju, a 13-year-old boy diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in the first grade, compounded by severe vision impairment. Utilizing assessment tools such as the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, Social Communication Questionnaire, Generalized Anxiety Scale, and Emotional Intelligence Scale, the study identifies significant deficits in self-esteem, social communication, emotional regulation, and anxiety management. Findings reveal mild anxiety, low social communication skills, and weaknesses in emotional intelligence, particularly in social skills and empathy. The study emphasizes the importance of individualized interventions, including strategies to enhance self-esteem, manage anxiety, and strengthen emotional regulation and social skills. Tailored approaches such as structured role-playing, deep breathing exercises, and incorporating Raju’s interest in trains are proposed to address these challenges. The case underscores the value of a comprehensive, supportive framework in fostering personal growth and improving the quality of life for individuals with ASD.
