Detailed Simulation Analysis of Rooftop Stand-Alone Photovoltaic Systems installed in Arid Regions of Algeria
This research conducts a comprehensive simulation of standalone photovoltaic (PV) rooftop systems installed in the arid regions of Algeria, utilizing real-world input data. The study assesses the operational performance and feasibility of these systems under actual meteorological conditions. Special attention is given to the application of Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) techniques, specifically Perturb and Observe (P&O) and Sliding Mode Control (SMC), through MATLAB/Simulink simulations. The systems incorporate Hoppecke OPzV solar power batteries, known for their reliability in energy storage. Key parameters such as PV array power output, battery charge/discharge currents, and state of charge are meticulously evaluated. The study's outcomes provide valuable insights for stakeholders, policymakers, and researchers interested in optimizing PV deployment within comparable arid climates.
