Heat Pattern Design System for a Wire Coil Annealing Process for Specialty Steel

When performing heat treatment using a wire coil annealing furnace, it is important to determine the heat pattern that is the target values of the atmosphere temperature in the furnace and the concentrations of CO and CO<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf> in the furnace. However, the response of the furnace atmosphere cannot be predicted and it takes a lot of time to determine the heat pattern. In this study, we developed a design system for heat patterns that can calculate the required flow rate of atmospheric gases during heat treatment by using the proposed furnace atmosphere model. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed system was demonstrated by comparing the design results with experimental results.
