An Overview of Non-Invasive Blood Glucose Measurement Devices Using Microcontrollers
Diabetes is known as one of the most widespread diseases in the world that can affect any age group, from children to older adults. Measuring blood glucose concentration is essential for patients with diabetes, as the result provides confirmation of the need for insulin dose. Commonly used methods to measure glucose levels are invasive for those with the highest accuracy, they cause pain, but also have a higher risk of infection. An alternative, non-invasive is the introduction of pain-free glucose measurement techniques. In this article, some of the devices that could be revolutionary for patients with diabetes are highlighted. The device under investigation employs non-invasive monitoring of blood glucose levels via a glucometer connected to a mobile app, which stores the readings in a database that can be accessed at a later date. This eliminates the need for biological tissue sampling, thereby enhancing the core functionality of the device. Furthermore, the test strips typically utilized in this process are eliminated, reducing both the discomfort associated with the procedure and the overall cost.
