Cardiovascular Disease Prediction Using Classical Machine Learning
Machine learning has been on the rise since the 2000's and has gained further prominence since the development of advanced AI chatbots. There have now been clinically accepted prototypes that utilize machine learning in the field of medicine as well. We employ classical machine learning methods to predict for cardiovascular disease presence on a large population of 70000 patients. We further include quantitative and qualitative evaluation with explainability in the prediction of death from standard clinical features. The model establishes diastolic blood pressure and age as the features that contribute most towards cardiovascular disease which is in line with the current expected diagnosis.
