Prevention, Detection and Notification Model for Vehicular Accidents Using IoT
Human population is increasing day by day, with this continuous increase in population, need for transport is also increasing exponentially. With more number of people behind the wheels, the number of deaths because of accidents is also skyrocketing. Though technology has evolved so much to save these lives, much more is left to be done. This paper aims to present a prototype that can detect accidents and report it to specified emergency contacts. This will allow medical facilities to reach the spot quickly and take necessary actions. Since most of the deaths in these situations happen because of late medical attention, this can be a life saviour. In places of no or very less habitat, accidents can go unnoticed and this can delay arrival of medical support. These scenarios can be avoided by the use of this prototype. The prototype can detect the presence of alcohol and alert the driver not to drink and drive, the model can also detect impact using vibration sensor and presence of smoke arising because of an accident, and can alert emergency contact. Model can send the last registered location of the vehicle through a SMS message to the specified contact. This message will contain navigation link to the accident site in the form of a google maps link.
