Development of Low Cost Inventory Management System using UAV
Inventory Management is a crucial task for smooth operation of many business activities in present days. The usage of Robots and Unmanned Ariel Vehicles (UAV's) has been proposed to atomize the process of inventory management and reduce the efforts of humans. This also enhances the safety of the human workers and increases productivity eventually. In comparison to the robotic arms or devices, UAVs are most preferable because of its flexibility of reaching to the corners of the racks or paces in the perspective of inventory management. However, the practical deployment of UAV's faces many difficulties because of indoor navigation and adaptable flight control. This paper focusses on research contributions in terms of low cost UAV based Inventory management systems in the context of low scale or mid-scale industries. The technology includes three stages. Firstly, Identification of the items based on the RFID scanner system. Secondly, a robust flight controller capable of capturing the data from various location in the warehouse is used. Thirdly, data management system for handling real-time data with suitable user interface. When the system performance was finally examined, it is observed that the inventory completion time and the rate of successful package identification both had considerable levels of accuracy. The speed of movement of UAV and number of visit to each self has been analyzed and documented. Further the system can be improved by using this UAV with GPS technology.
