Effect of Water Depth on Pyramid Solar Still Performance
To address the challenges of water scarcity, solar distillation presents an effective, environmentally friendly option. This study explores the effect of varying water depths on the performance of a pyramid solar still (PSS). Using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations with ANSYS Fluent, water depths of 1 cm, 2 cm, 3 cm, and 4 cm were analyzed. The focus was on how these depths influence the thermal dynamics and overall efficiency of the solar still. The study finds that different water depths impact the heat transfer rates and the efficiency of the distillation process. Certain depths were found to optimize the still performance, leading to greater water output. These results provide valuable insights for designing more effective pyramid solar still systems.
