A Rule-Based Power Management Controller for Home-Connected PV Systems Using Stateflow

This paper presents the development of an energy management system EMS for a home-connected PV system, utilizing the Stateflow methodology. This method enables fast controller design and streamlined code generation for implementation on target hardware. The study focuses on a typical microgrid setup, consisting of a photovoltaic (PV) generator, a lithium-ion battery energy storage system, and an energy management controller (EMS) to optimize power distribution across the system components. The components are initially modeled and simulated within the Matlab/Siminulink framework. Subsequently, the various operational modes of the EMS and its design using the steflow tool are elaborated upon. The simulation results confirm the effectiveness of the EMS, emphasizing the ease and efficiency of controller development using the Stateflow approach.
