Analysing the Existing State of BIM's Implementation in Facilities Management in UAE
The concept of Building Information Modelling or BIM as it is commonly called, immensely starts to be undertaken in projects within the construction sector. BIM is a process which aids the complete cycle of any particular project, initiating right from its inception up till end. While BIM has been recognized and accepted to be beneficial at multiple phases in the construction projects, there is a scarcity of studies focusing on its use in Facilities Management (FM). The study's purpose is to obtain a detailed and thorough interpretation regarding implementing BIM in FM together with its benefits and challenges from a practical viewpoint. A survey methodology was adopted which was distributed to online groups and by hand. On the 104 responses that were received, a quantitative data analysis was conducted, and the outcomes are presented. This information will help in broadening the limited body of information with regards to the present position of the executing BIM in FM sector within United Arab Emirates (UAE). This data will also help in understanding the value that BIM holds in FM together with the important information that is required by the FM team in order to perform their daily tasks.
