Numerical Simulation of Load‐bearing Capacity Evaluation of Beam‐column Joints of Typical Traditional Timber Structures
Abstract This paper evaluates the load‐bearing capacity of traditional timber beam‐column joints by studying their structural characteristics and mechanical properties using ABAQUS numerical simulation. In this paper, the mortise and tenon joints of traditional wooden structures with filling column holes are investigated and analyzed under horizontal and vertical loads. The numerical simulation results shows that traditional timber beam‐column joints exhibit high bearing capacity and considerable stability. Through the comparison with the load‐carrying capacity of bamboo structure, it is concluded that the traditional wood structure beam‐column joint has good load‐carrying performance, and its reasonable structural design has a significant impact on its load‐carrying capacity. This study offers a theoretical foundation and practical guidance for both the preservation of traditional wooden structures and the design and build of modern timber buildings.
