The modeling method of hydrodynamic characteristics of water tank as TLD
Abstract High‐place fire protection water tank is usually set up at the top of the high‐rise buildings due to the necessity and need for firefighting water, while the vibration damping effect of the water in the water tank on the wind response of the main structure in the swaying process is often not considered because the traditional water tank is not set up damping device. Therefore, the high level fire water tanks with damping device set up in high‐rise buildings are regarded as TLDs and are simulated based on the method of CFD to evaluate its vibration damping performance. Firstly, the basic conditions for simulating the water tank as a TLD are introduced, including how to capture the free liquid level, consider the effect of fluid viscosity and simulate the boundary condition of porous jump. Then, the operational flow of the simulation using FLUENT is reported in detail, and the model of water tank with damping device is established. By comparing with the test, the model of TLD is verified to be suitable for simulating water tank.
