Numerical Analysis on the Seismic Behavior of Multi‐celled Corrugated‐plate CFST Walls

Abstract Multi‐celled corrugated‐plate CFST (MC‐CFST) wall has the advantages of high load‐bearing efficiency and low steel consumption. The behavior of MC‐CFST walls subjected to cyclic lateral loads was explored numerically. Firstly, a numerical analysis model was developed. The numerical results exhibited satisfactory accuracy with existing test results. The impacts of axial compression ratio, geometric dimensions, and concrete strength were studied through parametric analyses. The findings indicated that the axial compression ratio could effectively affected the failure modes of the wall. It was recommended that the axial compression ratio should not exceed 0.4. Moreover, increasing the wall width could improve the initial lateral stiffness and shear strength of the wall, while increasing the wall height had an adverse impact. The strength of concrete had a minimal influence on the wall ductility, and it was not economical to enhance the seismic performance of the wall through improving the concrete strength. The MC‐CFST wall proved to be an excellent seismic‐resistant member and can be employed in practical engineering.
