The Impact of Household Welfare Indicators on the Level of Tourism Services Consumption

The financial availability of tourism services in Russia is largely determined by the level of well-being of households. The article analyzes the availability of tourism services for different segments of the Russian population. The article provides a comparative analysis of the share of expenses related to tourism activity of households grouped into 10-percentage groups and ranked by increasing per capita income. The information base of the study is the data of the Federal State Statistics Service based on the results of a sample survey of household budgets for the period from 2020 to 2023. One of the key findings is a significant differentiation in the structure of consumption. The results of the study confirm the hypothesis that with increasing income, the share of expenses related to tourism increases, especially among the upper decile groups. The highest expenses on tourism services are identified among households with incomes over 100 thousand rubles per month, while in low-income groups such expenses are virtually absent. Acute differentiation of the population’s well-being determines uneven access to tourism services for groups with different disposable resources, which confirms the relevance of the tasks facing the Government of the Russian Federation within the federal project “Increasing the availability of tourism products.”
