Soft Electromagnetic Actuator and Oscillator(Adv. Mater. Technol. 6/2025)
Soft Actuators In article number 2400982, Noah D. Kohls and Yi Chen Mazumdar present a groundbreaking soft electromagnetic system capable of bistable actuation and self-regulated oscillation. Using liquid metal and silicone as a compliant conductor, the actuator enables force generation, sensing, and feedback with minimal power. Diverse applications including peristalsis, hopping, swimming, as well as oscillatory crawling with just a battery are demonstrated, bridging the gap between soft and conventional robots.
