A PROSPECTIVE OBSERVATIONAL STUDY ON THE EFFICACY OF RIPASA SCORING SYSTEM

Introduction: Acute appendicitis is one of the most common surgical emergencies that we face in our daily clinical practice. A negative appendectomy is taken as a surgery performed for a preoperative diagnosis of appendicitis those results in a normal histopathological specimen. Different preoperative scoring systems have been devised to assist in equivocal cases in an attempt to decrease negative appendectomy rates. This scoring systems aid in early diagnosis of acute appendicitis and its prompt management. To Aims: find the efficacy of RIPASA score in diagnosis of acute appendicitis. The present study was a Prospecti Materials and Method: ve Observational study. This Study was conducted from Jan2024- Dec2024 at Silchar Medical College and Hospital. Total 200 patients were included in this study. Result: Present study showed that, majority number of patients had Rebound Tenderness and Fever in Acute Appendicitis [110 (83.3%)] compared to Normal Appendix [21 (30.9%)] but this was statistically significant (p<0.0001). We obser Conclusion: ved that ALVARADO score and RIPASA score were used in diagnosis of acute appendicitis. RIPASA score was found to be more significant compared to ALVARADO score in diagnosis of acute appendicitis.
